Yerba maté

So I have been on a quest for the past few years to find a natural stimulant to help my brain work a little better. I was drinking green tea for a while and then Erin told me it was against the rules. Then she told me that it really wasn't against the rules but it was too late, I was already looking for something new.

What I needed was something to help me think, especially in the afternoons and that would be good for me too. We looked at lots of different things out there but then Paul and I found Yerba maté.

I love it. I have been drinking it for about 3 years now. It is made from the bark and leaves of a tree in the Amazon and I have to order it online although it comes from an address in Minnesota . . . hmmmm.

These are some things that you might want to know about Yerba mate:

~It does have caffeine to get my brain going but not even half as much as a Coke.
~The caffeine is natural and not an additive (this is important to me).
~The caffeine works with the folic acid and antioxidants in it to give me energy for hours and hours.
~There is no caffeine crash.
~It is supposed to be an appetite suppressant, but I haven't really noticed a difference.
~It has an acquired taste. (that is code for "it doesn't taste very good")
~The websites tell you that to really enjoy it you need to drink it out of one of those gourds (above) . . . I have not found this to be true.
~It is perfect in the afternoon right before the kids get home. I have energy all the way through bedtime and have no problem getting to sleep.

Try it, you'll like it. I order mine from this site.

P.S. Please don't comment to tell me this is against the rules too.

Interesting, Rach. I didn't know about this. I think most moms need a little lift at about 3:00pm. You have so much important work left in your day.

Sweet, I am going to try it!! Everyone here is up by 6am and by noon I am begging the 'wee ones to take a nap or at least to stop licking the walls. Come 3pm I am running on sheer blood, sweat and lots of tears. I can't stay up past 8pm anymore. You know, you could have shared this 3 years ago!
