. . . and on his farm he had a PIG!!

Two pigs to be exact. A friend from the branch caught a wild pig and a bunch of piglets. He gave us two of them. Paul, Dan and Pauly spent Saturday morning putting up fencing and a little shelter. The piglets were delivered about noon.

We've named them Prosciutto and Kahlua.

Some things you may want to know about raising wild pigs:

~You need to de-worm them by giving them special food to eat.

~You need to feed them corn for at least 2 weeks so that they won't taste gamey.~Piglets will become tame very quickly.

~As they become tame, they become friendly and you have to work very hard not to let them become pets.

~They are very smart and in the beginning they will try very hard to escape.

~They are nocturnal.

I told Paul we should butcher one and put it in the freezer and we should have a neigborhood luau and roast the other one in an open pit. I've never done that before.

Okay, they would have already become pets for me.....look at those cute little piggies!

Did Gloria tell you about our calf? Well when we sat down for dinner I made everyone cry because we were eating my pet cow! I wouldn't make a very good farmers wife.

Great new family project. Call the Ron Thompsons and they'll tell you how to raise 4H champions.
