Hail to the chief, he's the one they all say hail to. . .

Congratulations Mr. President!

21 gun salutes, ball gowns, traditions, patriotic music, men in uniform, monuments to past heroes, moving speeches, old bibles, formal announcements as people enter, military bands, all the pomp and circumstance . . .

Sigh!

Inauguration day perfectly satisfies all of my romantic and patriotic sensibilities . . . at least for that day.

P.S. Robin and I were texting furiously. I was trying to tell her what was happening. I couldn't stand it! I finally texted, "I'm coming to get you." I picked up Paul and Robin and we came screaming home just in time for the swearing in. They had lunch and I took them back to school.

Perfect (I think it should have been a national holiday)! I went to work at 6:30 and then left at 8:15 to watch the swearing-in and his speech. Then back to work, but my mind was on Washington DC all day - should have taken the whole day off!
